The village is very tranquil, said the local shopkeeper. And we think we can subscribe to that. The population is about 250, and the only work here is copra production. But the copra is subsidized by the government, and pays 145.000 CFP (about 12.000 NOK) per ton, and our local shopkeeper regarded this a good price.
Besides there are a school, the post office, and the local mayor. And three there are three shops (supermarkets). They are not exactly well stocked, but we find some essentials, like potatoes, lettuce, olive oil, egg, flour, raisins, French wine, coke zero, towel paper, machetes, etc... You just go to all three, they do not sell exactly the same items. Much more than we expected.
Wednesdays an airplane bring in supplies, so tomorrow we look forward to do some more shopping. We have to stay here another few days waiting for the weather.
