It is four am. The wind almost disappeared. There was 23 knots, and two hours later there is none. The crew is happily asleep. The captain is on watch. He has slept healthy seven hours before this.
The first day out from Las Perlas the sea was full of life. We saw a lot of rays breaking the surface with its side fins, some of them jumping. In the night the sea was illuminated by the least disturbance, and soon the dolphins shot through the water with a long following tail of light. Once we saw a larger area of illumination in the sea, some 100 m away. Could have been a whale.
Tonight we had a bright star filled sky for some time, and I saw the Southern Cross for the first time. We are now on 5 degrees and 20 minute north.
