Title: Upgrades

I have some more slow days in Shelter Bay now. But today “Tatt av vinden” got a new backstay with insulators in, so that it can be used for SSB antenna. The old one had to be replaced for safety reasons according to the survey we had last year. But the expensive parts are the insulators, not the stay itself. Mike Barker, the rigger did a good job. Because of the carnival that ended Wednesday the parts were delayed. Never rely that everything goes according to schedule. But now it is done.

The two wheels have got new leather on them. Bought from Sweden and sown in place by the captain himself. The old leather was in very bad shape after 12 years and many of them in the tropics.

Next week I shall meet Eva in San Francisco. It has been four weeks then. That is a long time. And from today Eva has retired from work. A new life begins. As it once was for me, the daily work has been very important for Eva, and I know that the change will have its pleasures, but also its difficulties and sorrows and longing back. But we have put together this program for seniors: Sail the Pacific. We start 7. March from Shelter Bay on the Caribbean side of Panama. More about that later – also some words about the Panama Canal, the money machine of Panama.
