Vieques is a very nice place to be. We lie just outside Esperanza, not the capital of the small island, but a little town with friendly people. Most helpful has Miguel who owns the restaurant Bili's, been. And his restaurant serves the best burgers we (i.e. Bjørn) have had this side of the Atlantic so far.
By coincidence we met two other Norwegians boats here. "Morning star" with Gro and Aleksander from Tromsø and "Viking Spirit" with Lisbeth and Arild from Kristiansand. Neither of them had crossed the Atlantic. "Morning star" had been acquired in Grenada this year. "Viking spirit" had sailed these waters for many years. Lisbeth and Arild spend the winter season here and have another boat in Kristiansand for the summer. Gro and Aleksander plans to leave "Morning star" somewhere in Puerto Rirco for the summer and return in the autumn. We spent a wanderful evening toghether, the six of us in the cockpit in "Tatt av vinden" yesterday. Today the crews from "Tatt av vinden" and "Morning star" toured the island in the public busses or taxis. Actually they are a hybrid, because they take more passengers, but their destination will be in the direction where the first passengers wanted to go. Among other places we visited Isabel Segunda, which is the capital of the island. But we found that Esperanza has the most charm. Arild and Lisbeth sailed over to mainland Puerto Rico.
Before coming here we spent two good days in Sun bay where we did our morning running along the beautiful beach, bathed and lay in the cockpit reading or doing just nothing.
The weather has been excellent, dry and not too much wind all the time since we left Sint Maarten nearly a month ago.
