We moved over to the next bay, and plan to stay here for a couple of days. It is much calmer here. Caneel bay was pretty rolly. And nice snorkeling reefs can be reached by dinghy. Trekking trails start just off the beach.
This morning a very nice man from the national park - 2/3 of St John is national park - came over to us and gave us information of the national park. He also told us that you may no longer anchor anywhere in the park, but there are lots of moorings, and at 15 US $ per night it is tolerable, especially after the 30 dollars on BVI. It feels so good when the officials are friendly and polite, and helpful. Then you pay with less reluctance.
Lack of money in the parks administration means that they still have not had the budget to print new guides telling that anchoring is no longer permitted!
