After some seasons in Polynesia and Melanesia,I
often wondered why you see lot´s of smiling people.I have also often
noticed polynesian people practising the art of "doing nothing".Without any
major things left to do on my "worklist",and with no "must do´s" in my agenda,I
decided to go for "doing nothing".Subsequently breakfast took a couple of hours
and after bookreading I fell asleep.Approaching dinnertime I felt my "batteries
charged",and I wonder if this is not a good way to manage our enormoulsy
"speedy" western lifestyle.
Since we live in a culture faster than ever in
history(created and led by a very small rich elite ,influencing and creating a
large wealthy middle class to build power on),we need some breaks here and
there. In western lifestyle (like the old vikings bringing all
their important belongings into their graves),the owner of most status
symbols will be the winner of the race we call life.
A good way to manage this race,is to practise
"doing nothing"every now and then.
