Tai Tai – Update

Position 50˚ 21.90N 004˚ 7.92W – Queen Anne’s Battery Marina, Plymouth

With just under two weeks left to the start of the AZAB 2015 our final preparations are under way for Tai Tai and her crew.

James with Jeff, Mark and Jordan as crew moved Tai Tai from the River Orwell round to the Plymouth in early May.  Conditions ranged from a kindly NE breeze through to a full gale from the SW which resulted in a three day stay in beautiful Brixham until conditions settled.

The shakedown cruise was largely uneventful and all systems were working fine with the exception of the diesel-fired hot air heating system.  This has been rectified now with by fitting a new fuel pump for the heater, so all is well.

Our plan is to move over to Falmouth on Monday 1st June for the final few days preparation before the start of the AZAB at midday on Saturday 6th June from Pendennis Point.  We will be updating this blog as the start day approaches and plan to upload a brief daily synopsis of our progress throughout the race.
