MONDAY NOVEMBER 17

The countdown has begun. Today we emptied, cleaned, then refilled the water tanks, then filled the main diesel tank and took on an extra 250 litres of fuel in cans. We’ve got nets hanging up inside the boat for all our fruit and tomorrow we have to collect 100 bananas, 100 apples, 100 oranges and 50 pears – then we spray them with vinegar to kill any fruit fly eggs, rinse them and dry them one by one. Really interesting job. We’ve had the odd spot of rain this evening and you can feel the weather slowly changing as a depression moves over us from the north west. Could be a day of rain tomorrow but being British that’s not going to worry us. Sea temperature is shown on the instruments as 26C if you fancy a dip.
