“Come to St Lucia Laura, its lovely out here, you will have a great time” that's what my dad told me as I excitedly booked my flights one cold December morning! It sounded amazing, gorgeous weather, cocktails, great food and brilliant beaches. However there were a few things he didn’t mention, some of which he has asked me to share with his blog followers. Firstly sleeping arrangements, myself and my husband Tom share a sort of raised cabin bed surrounded by wood panelling so when I wake up in the night I worry I am in a coffin, also Tom is 6ft 4 so he cant actually sleep in it without doubling up his body, meaning I have little space to move. However the large hatch above our bed means we get a lovely breeze while we sleep until the heavens open and we jump up to shut the hatch banging heads and feet as we do so. Mix that in with a toddler next door in a bunk and you can imagine how restful our nights sleep is! Toilets next, dad didn’t share with me that I might need to time my number two so I can do them in public toilets rather than on the boat, I won’t bore you with the details but I have had an interesting experience carrying poo to a marina bin. Showers are interesting, do it on the boat and its has to be kept to a one minute shower or use the marina facilities which has so far resulted in me forgetting my clothes, losing my flip flops and scalding myself with extreme hot water. Cooking in this heat with a swinging oven, lack of space and a toddler has also been a interesting experience! But he was right about the weather, beaches , food and cocktails and of course its wonderful to see Dad and Tracy again! We are having a great time, lots of laughs, drinks and strangely some quite relaxing days! At least after this I feel well equipped for a camping holiday ha ha
