Well, put clocks back an hour today as getting further west. Still fighting SW winds but at least the sky has turned blue and less like the Solent on a grey day which it has been for the last couple of days. No fish today so tinned sardines with a tomato pasts sauce for dinner which was very good and a small Jamiesonâs because itâs Sunday.
Had an interesting night yesterday, went to start the engine, and it wouldnât so tried all sorts and eventually this morning, John A sorted out the wires and found a burnt out bit, corroded where the saltwater had been splashing when the waterpump leaked. There had been some repairs before, so keep fingers crossed as this is the only real way we have to charge batteries other than a solar panel which J & B brought with them to charge ipods etc. The other problem was that the port nav light stopped working which again was fixed this morning by replacing bits of corroded wire. we hope for a better night tonight.
Weâve now been at sea for 7 days and are 500nm nearer to easter Island, despite sailing over 700 miles due to the adverse winds. Hopefully, these will shift round in a couple of days and allow better sailing.
