At anchor, Crowles Bay, Te Puna Inlet
Wind: SW F3-4 Sea state: rippled Swell: nil Weather: mostly sunny, mild
I enjoyed a pleasant evening of conversation with Annie, discussing, as most single-handed sailors do, the world’s problems as well as a fair bit about boats in general, rowing back to
Sylph well after sunset for dinner.
Today has been a quiet day. The gaff-rigged topsail schooner, R. Tucker Thompson,
a sail training ship by winter and a tourism operation by summer, shared the bay with us for the night, adding to the scenery. This afternoon I was sitting below reading when I heard a lot of bubbles against the hull. I went on deck to investigate and was
surprised to find a rather large fish circling the hull. What such a large fish (I could not say what it was) was doing in this shallow bay swimming around
Sylph I have no idea. Yes, a quiet day.
Tomorrow we will head back to the islands, probably to Urupukapuka Bay on the island of the same name.
All is well.
