At anchor off Gibsons
Wind: calm
Weather: sunny, warm
Day's run: 25 nm

Today's forecast was for light winds, so my original intention was to do a short hop of only two miles over to Buccaneers Bay. The bay is a bit exposed to the north but I thought with the light winds forecast we would be fine there. And, as it turns out, that would have been a pretty good plan. However once we had cleared the confines of Smuggler Cove a light north-westerly breeze was blowing and I could not help myself but try to make the most of it, so instead I set my sights on Gibsons, about twenty miles to the south.

For five hours we made steady progress at about three knots, but around two in the afternoon the wind faded away to almost nothing and left us all but drifting. I was content to drift for the remainder of the afternoon, but come eight in the evening with no wind at all and Gibsons still some ten miles away, a bit of common sense prevailed, I handed sail and motored the rest of the way.

I let go the anchor thirty minutes ago. It is now half past eleven, so time to snug Sylph down for the night and get some sleep.

All is well.
