Slow going it is. Yesterday afternoon what wind there was, was right on the nose and a current against us. We veered far off course just to achieve 4 knots. Around dusk two birds of, we think, the Tern species hitched a ride. It seemed one was an adult the other a juvenile. They hunkered down on the starboard side. At around midnight a tremendous lightning show began and with it erratic winds requiring quite the foredeck dance to bring down the main sail! Jo caught a jib sheet smack in the face, which took her glasses reeling into the sea and left quite a rosy cheek and forehead. The birds were un-phased by all the excitement, It rained until just after dawn.
This morning more of the same, flat calm no wind. We are motoring. The adult tern flew away at dawn and the juvenile three hours later. We are seeing an abundance of fish breaking through the water, perhaps jack cravelle (sp?). The current is still against us, we thought we would be at the islands by now, but we are still 90 miles out. Cloudy skies, rain all around us. Temperature a pleasant 27c.
Apart from that, all is well
