Swallows cave

From Port Mourelle, Phil and I took the motor boat to the Swallows Cave. These magnificent caves can only be reached by boat. Inside there is a crystal clear lagoon. We were able to anchor the motor boat and hike in further into the cave. The cave went about 100 meters deep and was covered in bats. The cave was actually used in James Cameron’s movie Sanctum.

The Vava’u group of islands seems to be filled with so many things to explore and they keep getting better and better; from the Mariners underwater cave to the snorkeling and hiking, the whales to the Swallows cave, it is no wonder Vava’u is considered one of the top cruising destinations in the world.

We have spent the last few days back in Port of Refuge in Neiafu getting more previsions. We are about to head out again to explore more of the Vava’u islands.

Stay tuned!
