After checking in and buying some fresh fruit and vegetables at the market in Neiafu on Monday we made our escape out to the islands Tuesday morning. It was a grey and rainy morning with no wind so we slowly motored for a couple of hours or so south. The weather cleared up some in the afternoon as hoped.

It is great to be back out at anchor surrounded by beautiful little islands and turquoise waters. I had a good long snorkel around and also swam in to explore the beaches on Ngau and Pau, two tiny little islands next to us. We are the only boat anchored in this spot but at the next anchorage over the other side of a sand spit connecting the small islands both of the groups of boats happened to be cruising friends we had met in Samoa and French Polynesia! Maybe we will visit them more today. The wind has picked up some last night and today with the south east trade wind returning so we will go and find a more sheltered anchorage before tonight.
