We can't quite believe the day has finally arrived!

After nearly 5 years of blood, sweat and tears we have finally arrived at the moment of departure! We hope to be setting sail at 11am this morning, the last (for the moment,) of the fitters has just left. The engine is back behind its housing having had a major overhaul, we are still working to complete the last tasks as I write, the Anglo Saxon language is in constant use behind me, its all going very well!
A foot note, literally, last word in elegant dining….. having opened the oven door during a dinner with Derek and Wendy, the tray of food flew out throwing piping hot juices all over my leg and foot, fortunately the food was fine but spent the rest of the evening with my foot in a bucket of water, still the first aid kit we have spent a lot of time discussing before purchasing has been well worth it, grateful thanks to Judy and Simon for all their help on that one.

The weather is good, winds are light, north easterly, our passage is to Cowes, IW, for refuelling, meeting up with Peter and Jenny, (after whom the boat is named,) and Peter and Wendy for a farewell afloat and then to the tidal gate at Hurst Castle, before the tide turns against us. We will be sailing or perhaps motoring to reach the next tidal point off Portland Bill, across Lyme Bay and reaching Dartmouth sometime on Friday.
Looking forward to the adventure and missing you all already….
