Dear Family and Friends,

19th March 2015

Its hard to beat the wonders of nature, no artifice comes near. In the small hours of my watch last night, I heard a sound of blowing in water, then again. You might think with the usual splash, slap, hiss and gurgle that accompanies Jenny making her way through the water and the sound of breaking waves all round there would be nothing out of the ordinary about such a noise, but it is very distinctive. Looking into the water a streak of sparkling phosphorescence raced from stern to bow against the natural flow of water around the boat. I could not be sure what it was at first, but as I watched more streaks circled and raced along side us, under the boat and in the bow wave.  The shape of the luminous outlines suggested these were dolphins again, I could see their movements some distance from the boat and what a light show, entrancing. Worth every hour of boredom on long trips, a one off.

We are making good progress although it has been slower than yesterday. The winds have freshened a little over the last hour or so, hopefully we will keep these for the evening. Typically they go light on my watch and I am always trying to keep our speed up, never as easy as in stronger winds. Otherwise all is well.

All our best,

Lynne and Alan
