Star Dancer, Tim and I arrived at Wicklow at 0300 yesterday (Sunday 15
June). An uneventful last 100nm with a little sailing but mostly on the
motor in light winds from the North. We skirted the Smalls and Tuskar
Traffic Separation Zones and then headed inshore a little to leave Arklow
Bank to starboard with its offshore wind farm flashing orange in the dark.
Went alongside another Southerly on the East Pier and had a quiet beer to
see in the dawn.
Sunday morning and we moved Starry to a vacant spot alongside the pier and
left her with long lines to cope with the 2 metre range of tide.
Dennis, the main man, from Wicklow kindly took the boat keys and the Sailing
club and Jim from the harbour office offered to keep an eye on her.
Tim's good pal Shov arrived with little Finn and gave us a big Irish
breakfast roll and then off to Dublin Airport for flights home.
Our return is planned for Thursday when we will register, have Starry
inspected for compliance with ISAF Regs and the race starts at 1600 Saturday
21st June.
