Plan +24 Hrs: Sail from Grand Anse d'Arlet to an anchorage near Fort de France

Starcross was happily reunited with her owner and skipper on Wednesday 19/01/11. Al and Al's respective families had some lovely hot and relatively rain-free days back in Rodney Bay (hurray finally a dry patch). Al, Al, Helen, Elizabeth and Chris, after a yummy meal at Spinnakers on Reduit Beach went to the Fiday night jump ip as Gros Islet. We drank Piton beer and stuck out like sore thumbs with a few other tourists trying to dance. We reckoned if we wore velvet hot pants and pvc bras (even the boys) we could have go away with it. Next time! So after a thorough boat clean, some fantastic days on the beach, evenings out and visiting Pidgeon Island, Al and Al had to sadly say goodbye to Lucy, Paul, Helen and Elizabeth. Al and Al were so happy that the family holidays had gone well - something not experienced for 10 years for either of us!

On Monday morning, with the crew of Ross, Al, Al and Chris we departed St Lucia for the final time. It was sad to leave after a month of very happy times. However we have many more exciting times to be had and places to visit to look forward to - so not too sad! We arrived in the mammoth Le Marin marina to pass customs and vittal for the next 2 weeks. We stocked up on lots more of French cheese and wine at the odd french supermarkets (both with island-wide shortage of ham but glut of washing up liquid) reachable by dingy. We anchored in the gorgeous anchorage of Grand Anse d'Arlet around 1530, where we could see the bottom at 12m depth. We enjoyed a swim and a quiet evening, occaisonally tut tutting at other boats showing incorrect lights and anchoring ability, as, as we've discovered, is the customary thing to do at anchorages.

PS Happy Burns Night!
