Today we decided to stay in Lymington as both Norma and myself are still really tired from the crossing and just don’t seem to be able to get ourselves back into a 9 to 5 routine. Well the greatest plans of mice and men etc, Lymington harbour was booked out by a fleet of Dutch barges arriving at lunchtime and so we had to get out of Dodge. We actually managed to turn the engine off for a while as we completed the 5 mile crossing to Yarmouth harbour in a brisk 20 knot South Westerly wind. Safely tucked up in Yarmouth we have just had a pleasant day sightseeing (or in Norma parlance, shopping while i carried the bags) and then sleeping the afternoon away.
Tomorrow we are up at 4:30 for a departure at 5 to catch the tide and head on up to Brighton for a day or two.

One little saga i forgot to mention yesterday was our meet up with a very big racing yacht. As we were entering the Needles channel an AIS target appeared astern approaching fast. I checked it out and it came up as Commanche, 100 foot long and doing 20.1 Knots over the ground. It also showed it as sailing! Surely enough a set of grey sails appeared behind and we were soon completely trounced by this sailing monster, i think at least 10 people were sitting on the rail all in matching foul weather gear as they thundered passed, all very impressive.

That’s it not a hugely interesting story but that’s all i have got for the day so if you want excitement stop reading this, go outside and do something else.

Next edition from Brighton.
