15:32.657N 43:43.443W Today saw us passing the halfway mark, eventually. It was long awaited as we had been blighted by low winds, with our overnight speed dropping to less than a knot on occasion. We are becoming “squall hunters” as these are a sure fire means of producing high winds which can give us some lift and get us steaming along at up to 9.5 knots. The roll call this morning with other ARC+ boats highlighted the spread across the ocean as the fleet makes differing progress – some managing to find the wind and others struggling like us. It is motivating however, to see that we are still amongst the leaders for our class – we just need to keep up speed for the next 1000 miles. Current temperature is showing as 31 degrees – we understand a complete contrast to that back home! Belinda managed to call home today and was greeted with talk of school Christmas plays and present shopping. She is sad to miss the play – not so with the shopping.
