Not the blog

So, the way this will work is that I’ll send this email around so people
will know I’m ok and I can post it on the axshul blog later.

Actually, feckit, i’ll just post the bloody blog, tiptoeing around cos i
didn’t send someone a copy then oops sorry I didn’t mention someone else,
sheesh! Upsetting people - my speciality :-)

Sarah has discovered a way of sexing ants (except she did n’t use that
verb - she said finding which are girls and boys)-- which is to drop them in
a bucket of water. If it sinks - girl ant. If not - boy-ant!! Hah!

Meanwhile James is wondering if I have started arguing with myself or going
all Donald Crowhurst - although DC had to do loads of calculations of where
he should be and meh sounds a bit tough :-)

The sailing bit: I’ve poled out the genoa and nipping along at 6-8 knots.
Butthen up to 9 knots! Not sure quite why the speed varies so much,
difficult to trim downwind. Also I am off course by10-15 degrees but will
have a fix of things tomorrow, not in pitch dark. The wind is sort NNE or
NE - not ENE which would be more behind me - I wonder if BX can adjust?

Today’s book is Revenge by Martina f-word Cole. I actually met her in bar
in London, quite the revered author, quite a small person, definitely East
Endish, had “seen stuff” to the extent that having a chat in a bar with a
few people some of who she knew almost bored her to tears. If the place
had been erupting in violence, or a few people killed in the street outside,
well, that might have been a nice night out for her.

Martina’s writing style is Manically Padded and Repetitive Violence:

Tommy The Maniac wasn’t just a thug. He was a violent, dangerous thug, and
that was just the start of it. He’d kill people just for kicks, and
everyone knew it. You stayed away from Tommy if you knew what was good for
you, everyone did. He’d been that way for years and he was getting worse.
Yet another body would be found in a skip, arms ripped off was his
trademark, and it was obvious that Tommy had been busy again. Not just
other thugs but anyone who got in his way- Tommy would follow them, into the
bushes, dead, arms ripped out of their sockets and into the skip. Even the
local cops daren’t challenge him, he was that mental. And he was
calculating as well, and that’s why he was especially alarming, even to all
the other known violent lunatics, without exception. His entire family had
disappeared over the years, then his neighbours, until Tommy the Maniac was
the sole inhabitant of an entire street in Poplar. Nobody went near him,
not ever.

And so on.
