We slipped our lines and sailed away at 7:22AM Thursday 21th August and sailed into Ribadesella 43:28.14N 5:04.21W

It was a grey and rainy start to the day but the sunshine managed to break through mid morning, turning the day into a fantastic one at that!

As we made our way along the coast I saw millions and millions of small swimmer crabs in the water. The water itself was absolutely crystal clear and as far as the eye could see the water was full of these little crabs every where. It was absolutely amazing.

When we finally arrived at Ribadesella the tide was too low to get into port so we anchored up out the front in the beach bay. It was so hot that we jumped straight in the water and swam for a while I also got the opportunity to scrub the pelton wheel of the boat speedo. Finally I got it working again. As you do we also cracked a bottle of Rose on the boat in glorious sunshine and drank a few glasses while we waited for the water to rise.

When we eventually made it into harbor we moored up to a wall.  Again this time it was in the center of town and it felt as though we were like a tourist attraction.  Most people walking past could not stop staring, some taking photo’s of themselves with our boat in the background!

We were fortunate enough to have arrived at another festival, amazing…….

Special comments by Fiona:  The day started off to be quite unpleasant, grey skies and rain.  A couple of hours and a couple of cups of tea into our journey, the sky opened up to reveal beautiful sunshine.  After all the hard work the passed couple of weeks to get where we are, it is now worth every second when anchored up in beautiful surroundings - swimming off the back of the boat in water so clear you can see your toes and returning to a glass of the finest Spanish Rose.  Well it’s what I’ve been waiting for!  I like Ribadesella.  Actually, I really like Spain – the people, the food, the wine (I’m sure I’ve mentioned that a few times!) and in general their way of life.
