Medical Training in action
Monday, 20th July to Friday 24th July, 2015

Sarah arrives Saturday 25th July until next day, Sunday.

Nurse, John Ryan from Medaire joined us for a week to continue our on board
medical training. Fear not anyone that joins Shelena, as you are in safe
hands whether needing a defribulator, sutures or bone gun for intravenous
needs! Preparing is preventing, and on that basis all the kit we have aboard
will never be used; at least that is our thinking. We also have Medlink's 24
hour 7 days per week medical support via sat phone to be guided by a doctor
in case of need.

Sarah arrived by ferry from Poole for a short week end. Amazingly, she was
not feeling well so being aboard we tried out the Medlink service.
Impressively, her condition was accurately diagnosed by sat phone in Arizona
with confirmation from St Peter Port A&E, which was equally impressive.
Arrived at the hospital and the doctor sees Sarah within 10 minutes. The UK
mainland health service could learn something from the Guernsey health
service to be sure. In any event, the minor drama meant a quiet weekend with
Sarah; who was soon fully recovered.
