We had our best 24 hours yet with 194m and I believe we have pulled closer
to our Class A leaders. We have 723 Nm under the keel. As said in earlier
blogs it is a very difficult to known where we are relative to other boats.
Rally control do send out a position sheets each day but for us it is out of
date when we receive it, and to plough through lines of text positions is
more than we are willing to do! Accordingly, we just do our own thing.
Thanks to David for his strategic thinking in raising our yacht speed. Can't
say what he said because to do so will give our competitors "inside
information". Not of course that we are racing. This is a rally. Helen
enquired as to the difference between a rally and a race. Petri replied that
a race is when two or more yachts are heading for the same destination and
anything else is a rally!

Our challenge of the day has been to investigate our hot water heater
tripping. Thanks again to David, an electrical engineer. It was soon plain
that there was moisture in the heater which caused it to short. We have a
temporary solution, but this is another warranty matter for Oyster to
handle when we arrive in Rodney Bay. This is important stuff because without
hot water Helen will not be a happy bunny if deprived of a hot shower
daily. I know that for some this sounds a high expectation, but that was the
terms upon which Helen was willing to do the ARC+. I agreed, so no problem.
My side of the bargain remains intact!

Kathryn asked about the weather. A good deal of sunshine but cloud too.
Temperatures about 26 degrees and not much less at night. No rain to date.
The winds are typical trade winds mostly from the NE blowing at about
17knots. Pretty perfect sailing really. Only spoilt by the yacht roll
induced by the swell. This makes it a little difficult to sleep but we are
in a routine now.

That's all for now. Petri's mahi-mahi beckons.

All well on Shelena,
