Here we are on day 6 of the voyage from Paternoster to St Helena, with a 1000nm(1900km) behind us. We are on the same latitude as Swakopmund. It seems an age ago we were taking friends out in Table Bay Cape Town.

The weather has been kind to us providing wind for the most part in the right direction. The weather diagram attched gives an idea of the wind pattern we are expeariencing. We have only motored 17 hours (100nm) to date, hopefully the wind remains with us all the way to St Helena. The bulk of the fleet are 350nm ahead of us, with the tailender only 175nm ahead.

As usual we have been eating well and enjoyed the fabulous lamb chops from Joe's Tablebview Butcher in Blouberg road, Tableview. We were introduced to them by Ted and Joan, delicious. Highly recomended.

Joan made her world famous rusks for the boat, which Ant and I forgot about, until I heard the furtive sounds of Ted secretally getting rusks for Tom and himself while we were off watch and sleeping. As can be seen we were left with only a handful. Don't they look quite smug the next day.

Ant has acclimatised to life on board quite quickly, watch keeping, sleeping and relaxing. He has already contributed a chicken curry to the evening fare, also delicious.

The South Atlantic Ocean is azure blue when the sun comes out, however is poorer in sealife. The boys have been fishing every day and apart from a couple of skipjack tuna, have had no success. Even the seabird life is scarce with only the occasional albatros and petrel to show some interest in us. Ted managed to catch a petrel by it wrapping the line around it's wing. Tom got a nasty little peck from it as they freed it.

As I write BT is in the galley making wraps for lunch, Ant is in his faviourate position, the companion way-yes he is in the way. We going to have to ween him off this habit. Tom is off watch catching up with sleep.
