Hope everyone had a Happy Easter.
We left Cienfuegos on Saturday the 19th April and
headed SE towards Santiago de Cuba. We have been day sailing in lovely weather
with fair winds from the NE and flat seas. The winds tend to die down in the
afternoon so we usually drop anchor shortly after that occurs. It should take us
about 10 days to get to Santiago.
On Sunday we met some very friendly fishermen
again who exchanged 4 really nice lobster for a bottle of rum. We were really
surprised when they came back later with a cooked dinner for Georgina and
me of grilled fish with rice, beans and tomato. I gave them another bottle
of rum for that and a can of our precious M&S Ham which we had saved
since Gib. We had a chat in "Spanglish" for a while where I learned
that being a fisherman in Cuba is boring as the fishing is easy and
they have to give everything they catch to the government.
The dinner was lovely and we had BBQ lobster
last night. You can't beat fresh lobster tails.
So, everything is fine and I will post a further
update in a couple of days time
Best Wishes,
John & Georgina
