Hi there,
This is a further update from the San Blas. We have been exploring some of the Guna villages on a couple of islands off the Panama coast. These places don't get many tourists (there were 2 other yachts here plus us at Tigre) so I think this is how the Guna live, rather than anything that is put on for tourists.

When we landed on the island an bunch of small boys came out and wanted to see the strangers

We wandered through the village and bought some Molas from the women who mostly wear traditional dress.

(The Nose Ring is particularly fetching I think)

The houses are mainly grass huts, though most have a solar panel to provide some lighting and to charge up the cellphone that everyone seems to have. I guess that the 21st centuary is starting to encroach on life here. Unfortunately, 21st centuary sanitation hasn't made it yet and the toilets are fairly primative.

We won't be swimming in this bit. Also one of the people on the French boats reported that they had seen a ....ow you say.....crocodile swiming round their boat last night. So, moonlight dips are off the agenda for a while!!

Best Wishes,

J&G.
