Another perfect day in Paradise? Well close to it.
Last night we raced along under a starry sky peppered with a few lonely
clouds. The wind held good and our speed barely dropped below 8kts, in fact
most of the watches clocked up 25 miles in 3 hours. The only downside is
the big swell which mostly creeps up under our stern and lifts us nicely so
we surf as the wave passes beneath us. Just occasionally however a rogue
catches us on the quarter so we roll land swerve and Ray the autohelm has
to work to keep us on the right track. Unfortunately the constant rolling
has loosened a few lids on jars in the fridge so this morning David
volunteered to remove their contents from the bottom of the fridge. Does
anyone know of a good recipe that requires Olives, cheese chunks and
pimentos mushed together in olive oil and brine?
Yesterday we encountered life other than our own as a squadron of Flying
Fish winged past us on their way north but we look in vain for dolphins and
whales to show themselves.
The weather is noticeably warmer, today most of us are in just our shorts
(sorry ladies no photo today)and the air feels humid, but the wind is
holding good for us and Serendipity's big twin headsails tug us along
without complaint.
As I write the ship is suddenly alive with activity, sails are being hauled
in, we slow to a halt. David has caught another fish. Having forked out
for a mighty gaff hook in Tenerife we prepare for landing tonight's supper
only to find that the unlucky victim is Doris the Dorado's smaller sister
and as she is brought alongside she drop off of the hook and returns to her
mates so no picture of that either. Oh well it's back to the Times
Crossword.
Hope that you are all having a nice Saturday
