Wed, Thurs, Fri & Sat – 16th, 17th, 18th & 19th April

The reason for coming to the BVI’s was to join the Cruising Association gathering of boats here in Virgin Gorda and this took the form of a lunch on the Wednesday at Saba Rock which was fun and then on Thursday we all reconvened at the Fat Virgin in Biras Creek where we were all treated to lunch by Chris Lloyd  who is the HLR for the CA here in the BVI’s.

Then on Thursday evening we joined J and Louise Roche along with their family and friends for happy hour followed by dinner at Saba Rock. They have all chartered a big catamaran for two weeks and have a busy itinerary so they headed off on Friday morning just missing out on the hot cross buns that Sarah had tried to make especially for them to celebrate Easter!

On Friday the weather took a turn for the worse with the wind picking up and the anchorage became pretty bouncy although the worst of the swell was being caused by the fast fishing launches from Puerto Rico that have come here for the big wedding on Necker island on Saturday.  But we stayed where we were as the anchor seemed well set and the wifi here is pretty reasonable. Almost all the other cruisers had headed round to the Sandbox which is a very protected anchorage barely half a mile away, but there is no wifi there worth talking about.

On Saturday evening we joined Amanda and Mark from Balvenie for drinks on the beach along with their friends Bryce and Martha from Silver Fern (NZ).
