Tues & Wed– 1st & 2nd April

Not the earliest of starts on Tuesday but eventually Balvenie and ourselves dropped our lines and headed off to Lameshur Bay on St John’s Island.

Jim & Carola though had been busy bees and had gone out in their dinghy with a small grappling hook and had managed to catch and recover the stainless anchor and chain belonging to the race boat.  They opted to not follow us today to Lameshur, choosing to have a day off in preparation for the racing again later in the week.

Lameshur bay was pretty empty when we arrived and after sorting ourselves out, we all four headed off in Doris to do some snorkelling.  The water was unusually cloudy today and so we did  not see all that much nor get any decent photos really.

In the evening Mark and Amanda came over to join us on Serafina for dinner.

On Wednesday morning M & A went for a hike up the hills behind the bay, but Sarah who had done this walk before chose to stay behind and spent most of the morning in the sea cleaning our waterline – along with a large barracuda which refused to take flight, a small black fish living in our rudder stock it appears and an even smaller fish determined to get into her mask! In the afternoon Sarah and I went for another snorkel and came across a very friendly turtle, so more turtle pics on the website!!  On the way back to Serafina the outboard began to cough and splutter a bit and the signs were not good. So in the late afternoon when we went across to Balvenie for supper, we ended up having to paddle there as the little outboard had given up the ghost altogether.

Koza made a brief appearance earlier in the day when they came into the bay, looked around and left again without a word!  But later on Macushla (Mark & Sue) came in and picked up a buoy. They are also OCC members and we hear them on the Magellan SSB net most mornings, but have not actually seen them since we were in Camden, Maine in 2012.
