We have arrived in our final destination for this year. River Side Drive Marina, Whangerei.
We had a great time in Opua. We got together with many friends of other boats, who have done similar things to us. We did a bus tour, had several meals together and went to a cultural evening in Waitangi. That showed the history of New Zealand from a Maori perspective. It was fantastic.
We left Opua on Thursday, again not a great sail; into wind and gray and cold. We left at first light, at 06.00 and arrive at Marsden Cove Marina at 19.30. So a long day. We left early this morning for the final two hours motoring up the river to River Side Drive Marina. We are glad to be here. But now we seriously have to get down to work. Whangerei is a town where we should be able to get most things we need.
We are due to fly to UK on Dec 7. We will make contact with many friends and look forward to seeing all the family. We are due back here in early March, when I will continue the webdiary.
