Having left Lymington at 10.30pm in no wind but with forecasts of strong winds late Saturday/Sunday we were keen to get on with it as quickly as possible.

The wind arrived in Bournmouth bay easterly (dead down wind) at about 20knots and there it remained until 2 miles from Salcombe. Genoa set alone rather than have the main swinging around in the swell which was fairly big at times.

2 miles off Salcombe the wind suddenly filled in almost exactly as predicted by the maritime forecast soon gusting 30knots.

Moored up safely in Salcombe the boat has been swinging around all night in blusty gale force winds and rain. So here we sit waiting for a favourable tide down to Plymouth later today - and hopefully an improvement in weather.
