We stayed in Loano a couple of days so we could get the washing done and some shopping - plus it avoided sailing into westerly headwinds, forcasted for yesterday in the direction we were heading.

This morning we headed off West deciding we would stop at San Remo (from which we set of nearly six weeks ago to Corsica) and have a last meal in Italy before getting back to France. Plus we were more confident about getting into San Rem than some of the French marinas that start getting difficult in July, if one arrives late.

After half a day of cloud yesterday and even a few spots of rain - the first since we arrived six weeks ago, today is hot and sunny again.

The weather seems very settled at the moment with little or no wind around so we have got very little pure sailing in for nearly a week - motor sailing being the order of the day. Happily favourable currents are helping too, unlike last week.

The coastline of Northern Italy appears to be more attractive than we thought with lots of new marina's - we may well come back here next year and explore in more detail.

Tomorrow we are going to try and get into Nice early, but they have very few visitors berths so we may get forced to carry on in which case we will head for Cannes were we can anchor in the shelter of the Islands if we can't get into a marina.
