29th June

We decided to stay an extra day to explore Viareggio a little more and mainly due to a forecast of stiff head winds in the direction we wanted to go (again). We spent a nice morning cycling on the lengthy boulevard - probably about 3 miles long. Lovely shops, restaurants etc.

In the afternoon the we suffered from the first serious cloud cover since the beginning of June - reminded us of England. I even had to put on a pair of trousers for the first time in a month, to go out in the evening, it was that cool.

30th June

Happily the sky is blue again and now no wind.

We Set off early with the idea of getting to Genoa to do some domestic things done, like washing. It was a long day and unfortunately pretty much all under motor in the light winds. The sight were nice. Passing Spezia and the Cinq Terre region - with all its pretty villages clinging to the mountain sides - then Portofino with all the large yachts moored off. Then finally into the main Port of Genoa.

A nice evening was spent wandering around the front at Genoa - much developed with lovely restaurants etc., since we were last here.

Unfortunately Alison's laundrette, just by the marina, has been closed so we may review whether we are staying tomorrow.
