On a cold and dark wintery day here in Swanwick Marina, the warmth of the Caribbean and Oceans beyond seem a long, long, way away. The list of preparations for our pending circumnavigation seem endless and daunting. Yet, even though our departure from the UK is still 10 months away, I am tingling with excitement at the prospect. Sea Flute, our Oyster 56 was purchased 18 months ago in Palma specifically for the Oyster World Rally which starts from Antigua in January 2017. We have signed up to cross the Atlantic with the ARC+ rally (the + part means we will be stopping at Cape Verde en route) leaving Gran Canaria in November 2016. To position for the start of the ARC+ we must leave the UK at the beginning of September 2016, so the plans for the house, work and family have been underway now for some time. This post is really also a test to see if I have registered correctly for the Mailasail Blog! So with any luck you may be reading this.
