This is a brief post to celebrate a pretty cool milestone for me.

On 04 July 2010, Jane and I departed Southampton for a bit of an adventure.  On our outward leg, we passed across the top of the Cape Verde islands.

Some 5 years and 3 months later, I have just 'joined the dot' and crossed our outward track which means that I have completed a circumnavigation.  It isn't everyday that you get to say that you have just sailed round the world!!!  The champagne is just about to be opened and a little celebration is in order.

Celebration over, we have another 2,220 miles to go before we arrive back in Southampton.  However, we are now definitely homeward bound and starting to count the days.  I have never been homesick before but, since leaving Mackay on 25 June, it has been a long time since I have seen my family and friends.

It has been a great trip.  Imagine 4 guys who have never met each other setting off to sail half way round the world.  It could have been a disaster but it has all gone extremely well.  However, it isn't the same as having Jane sailing with me, or having the kids come to stay.  If things go to plan we should be back in another 14 or 15 days and I am looking forward to spending some time at home.

Hey ho, back to the champagne and a few more miles.
