All went well on Thursday morning so, after we had checked the rudder and done all the usual checks after relaunching a boat we were ready to go for a test sail, to check that the rudder was functioning properly.

At 10.00 on Thursday 25 June, we slipped our lines and motored out of the harbour.  We tested the rudder and everything looked pretty good.  The rudder was moving smoothly, there was far less movement in the top of the rudder post and, very importantly when setting off on a 15,000 passage, the small but annoying amount of water trickling from the seals had stopped.  Yippeeee!!!

It is now 24 hour later, 10.00 on Friday 26 June and we are around 180 miles north of Mackay.  Only another 14,820 (roughly) miles to go to Southampton!!  Seriously though, it is great to be on our way and setting off on what should be a great adventure.  If things go to plan, we should be in Darwin around the 4th or 5th July and are intending to stay there for 3 nights, before heading off to the Cocos Keeling Islands.
