A strange few days.....

It has been a funny few days since we got back on the boat. On Thursday, we put the boat back together, and then Friday's excitement was a trip to the supermarket. What is very odd, is being 'locked in'. As I said previously, we can only access the park between 10am and 3pm, which makes our hours of freedom very short, evening jaunts are out of the question, that said, with the curfew still in place, there would be no where to go as Jersey City is under curfew between 7pm and 7am - it's a bit like being in prison!!
The State Park here remains closed, and today we found out why, the ferry terminal was destroyed in the storm and Ellis Island, the place where all the immigrants were processed prior to entry into the USA (now a major tourist attraction) has also been destroyed - it is a great shame, but hopefully, they will be able to reopen soon.
Tomorrow, Monday, we are taking advantage of a very short weather window and heading south to Cape May, just south of Atlantic City. Whereas Atlantic City was devastated in the storm, Cape May survived unscathed despite being less than 50 miles away. New York Harbour is still only partially reopened, as over 100 containers were lost during the storm, and as yet 40 are still unaccounted for, and floating around, we will need to keep a careful lookout to make sure we avoid these. We will arrive in Cape May about lunchtime on Tuesday, and yet more bad weather is expected on Wednesday. Wednesday and Thursday look stormy and cold. The temperature here has dropped significantly, and it will be a very cold trip south. After a few days in Cape May, we will head further south to Norfolk, Virginia, to meet up with the crew of BriZo, another Discovery 55, and then we are heading, with them, to the Bahamas for some serious sunshine!!
