We are back to the boat now and getting ready to leave. Our original planned departure date was Saturday and we worked all day Thursday and Friday to get ready, only to find that Hurricanes Leslie & Michael were hanging round exactly where we want to go - typical! As the forecasts were showing confused weather, and the possibility of the two hurricanes joining forces to wreak havoc, we decided to stay put until Tuesday, as all forecasts seem to show both weather systems passing us way to the East by then. Our plans until we return home on 21 September have been slightly amended and we are now planning to go straight to Martha's Vineyard overnight on Tuesday and arrive late Wednesday afternoon. This will get us well over halfway to Mystic, where we will leave the boat while we fly to England.
Yesterday, I managed to convince John that a shopping trip was in order, so we set off to Freeport, about an hour away. The shopping there is great, it is all outlet shopping so the prices are reduced anyway, but in addition they had sales on, so most items had a further 25-40% off! The only downside was that after about an hour of being there, the electric went off in part of the town and half of the shops closed! Just as it went off I had picked out a few necessary items in one shop, as had John, but luckily between us we managed to scrape the cash together, as all the cash machines were also off. Couldn't believe it though, the one day I get to go shopping and the electric goes off - still managed a good few purchases though!
