We seem to have found the proper Trade Winds, at last and are now heading slightly N of W to follow the Great Circle route round to the Caribbean.
An Irish couple, we know, have been in Cape Verde since well before Christmas, they had a few last minute jobs to finish off, but we heard yesterday that they have now left and they are about two hundred miles behind us. So a Frenchman, a Scotsman and an Irishman (sounds like the start of a bad joke); that's at least three boats which are crossing. Although, it is very unlikely that we will see each other or even be close enough to have a chat on the radio. If we had an HF SSB (short wave radio) set we could potentially talk to people hundreds of miles away but that's another two thousand pounds and of more use If sailing with an organised race or rally and the pound is not what it used to be you know!!
