Once shipshape again, left Kittery Point for Portland.

Fine view of Portsmouth Naval Prison as we were leaving. Very grand appearance, occupied from 1908 until 1974. Must have housed a lot!
Again, no wind at first and dodging lobster pots required full attention from the crew!
Wind got up and under full sail we finally hit 6 knots; since we knew it was going to be tight making Portland in daylight we made a change to Plan B
In this part of Maine, there are few anchorages and costly mooring fees are the norm. So the Saco River was the destination- free transient moorings being the attraction.

Saco River, very pretty, with numerous waterside properties having their own dock, or in this case a summerhouse.
3 1/2 miles upriver we found the buoys, success! Wonderful spot surrounded by forests and wetlands about a mile from the twin towns of Biddeford and Saco. Wanted to be tucked up out of the way of possible gales and rain, remnants from Florence.

Rewarded with the most awesome sky! One to remember.
