Quick Cut to Vineyard’s Sound
Yesterday was a non starter. Any trip in the dinghy would have been a wet one! Wind is now from the east and has finally calmed down as have the waves, so ventured ashore again.
At this point, have to admit that we don’t always manage 10000 steps. I wouldn’t want to mislead anyone but when we are ashore we do try to get some exercise, particularly now that the climate is much more temperate.image1.jpegThis island has everything. Town hall, above, library, elementary school, grocery store, Fishing Club which serves breakfasts and a Methodist Church which opens its doors to various faiths and times services accordingly.

Walked to the highest point, marked of course by The Stars and Stripes. The view on a clear day would be stunning but all rather grey today.

Met a lovely family at the dinghy dock and they quickly persuaded us to change our plans. We had avoided Newport, Rhode Island for its “conspicuous consumption” and were going to miss out Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket for similar reasons. However, we are now on our way to M V, to Vineyard Haven which is the main harbour  and quite normal by all accounts watch this space......we always prefer local recommendations.
