On our return to the boat our bags are always heavy with spares and this time was no exception. We had a new water pump to replace the old one, leaking half a bucket of water a day ( a very scientific unit.)
Today’s job was to replace it. First up was to remove all the cushions in the saloon to access all the tools kept under the seats. Some of you will know that when jobs are being done, the boat looks like a bomb site and crew have to be very understanding- hard sometimes.
Any job on a boat takes twice as long as one on land, usually because the tool required is in the garage at home. One pipe eventually came off, but the second wouldn't budge and took a great heave, a nasty gash to the head and a little first aid before it moved. Once off, F discovered that a gear puller was needed (whatever that is) so off we went in search of the appropriate shop - always difficult in new place.
Once bought, the job was completed in double quick time - it just goes to show how important it is to have the right tools!
And it didn’t leak!
