Wind and sea moderated, so had the cruising chute up for a while. Then a strange grinding noise started at the steering. The autopilot hydraulic ram had worked loose in the short time we were using it, to allow us both to go forward, to set up the chute. Managed to retrieve all the bits and replaced the plain nut with a nyloc. (I shall write a stiff letter to the cheapskates at Lewmar... ) Back on wind-vane steering and the hydraulic backup system seems none the worse for the drama. Not sure about me.
Flying fish made a delicious starter. We threw another one away because it was found inside a sail bag, may have been there for days.
