The trip to Bonaire from the Roques was interrupted by a 2 day stay in Los Aves Barlavento, a beautiful Venezuelan deserted Island, where many birds species are the only permanent residents particularly the red footed boobies. We eventually arrived to our destination after some cracking sailing

Slave houses too small to stand up          Fantastic white sand beaches

The world largest solar evaporation salt production facility

 any leftovers?

It is such civilized and pretty place unlike some Caribbean Islands we have been to.

It seems incongruous to see blue Delft china sold by African Caribbeans. The daily cruise ship visitors taking home miniature clogs bought so far away!

We cycled around the colourful streets. The locals are friendly, welcoming and always ready to help.

The crystal clear water  is so inviting. We spent a few hours in Little Bonaire

Picnicking and snorkelling with Eva and George ( S.Y.Kopernik)

A light picnic                                       but a heavy lunch!

The coral garden was amazing with the marine life so colourful. It was a kaleidoscope  of intense and varied colours, such graphic shapes that I lost myself for a long time.

Far too soon  we had to move on to Curacao.

The flight of the flamingos

 So near us………..
