Ortigia / Siracuse, Sicily - The beginning of another great, very long, sailing season

Vilket lyft. Tur man blir lite smartare varje seglarår.

Siracuse, Sicilia
Grete preparing for our first mooring this sailing season.
She's an expert by now.
The old town, Ortigia, with massive old fortifications.
Very good nice sailing buddies from Licata at the jetty.
Mary (US), Sarah (NZ), Rick (US) and Sam (NZ).
They arrived before us and, of course helped us out.
Google translation (incredibly lousy) from Swedish text above, incredible bad:

Hello sailors,

Now we are free at the city shack in Syracuse (where our celebrated Santa Lucia comes from). Quiet and nice. Just what we need.
A number of sailors from Licata are already here with their boats.
We backed in With style and there were our friends in place to fix our ropes. Perfect.

We are a bit dull, very sore and wrong wind as usual.
But everything is fine with us and the ship.

Feeling nice to be here. What life do you celebrate today's freedom (from Musollini & Nazister), lots of people everywhere.
Feel really like the summer is here.

Ortigia (an island), old part of Syracuse, is the nicest place to visit in Sicily as a sailor.
Good sheltered bay, free city jetty, culture & history, narrow alleys and a functioning market with the nicest and best jams on the island.
Good food, kind of tapas, and really good local wines for small money.

There is no electricity on the township.
The new solar panel really contributes. Which lift. Lucky you get a bit smarter every sail year. Feels really good.

Now we enjoy a mirror-shaped sea, sun & lagom hot & Italian wine.

Two days will be enough here, depending on the wind and the direction of the wind.
Will be a trip with dingyn across the bay to Liedl tomorrow.
Liedl is good and cheap for us sailors. Here in Italy there are some good and cheap goodies we can not find in Greece. Time to bunp full before leaving Italy for Greece.

Will take us about 55 hours (270 Nm) to sail from Sicily to Paxos Island in Greece.
Preferably, we want to sail, better and much calmer on board, but the winds here in the Mediterranean do not want (most of) the way you want.
We are very pleased with Mr Perkins, a true girlfriend.
1200 rpm, 3.5 liters of diesel per hour and about 5 knots.
But without sails and only the engine rolls and swings it like attic. Not that bad just damn hard.

Now, we hope that Predict Wind will give us a good wind forecast so we can throw and shed all our sails.

Until then, we enjoy Ortigia and the fishermen's life.
