Title: 44 knots is a lot! 26:42S165:11E

This morning I woke up at 3.30, the boat was behaving different and the sound was alarmily loud.
I came up to the cockpit and found hell was loose. We were doing 8-9 knots in 33 knots of wind.
And on top of that Ellinor could not do anything since she was holding on to the bimini, it had come loose in the strong wind.
If she would let go we would have a kite and a mess of tubes etc.
To make things more complicated we had the spinacker boom poled out since last night. Now it was not poling out anything as
we were running on the jibe.
First thing I changed course to downwind and took in the entire main. No need for that and things calmed down a lot.
Then we decided on how to take it down. After that the wind went up to 44 knots! Severe gale almost storm condition.
But we had to bring up the spinacker pole as we could easily see the waves building up.
We decided what to do in the cockpit and then took off on the pitch black deck.
Now the sun has come up and we can see the waves that have built up 3-4 meters, so we are harnessed even in cockpit now.
It is very cold and damp, far from the nice and warmth we have had for a year! Feels like sailing in Scandinavia.
All well on board but we are very tyred!
