Some other things you can't, or shouldn't, photograph

2/9/11. One of the magical things about night sailing offshore is the luminescence of the wake. We had some very dark nights, with no moon and of course we had the internal boat lights out to preserve our night vision. As the we travel through the water millions of tiny creatures disturbed by the wake flash their luminescence. Some of the larger ones look like tiny sparks in the water, and when motoring the wake is like two aircraft vapour trails behind us, stretching back many metres. I tried to photograph it, but my camera just can’t catch it, so I’ll just have to remember the sight. But here’s what the camera saw.

Bob took a great photo of the sunset on 2/9/11:

3/9/11. Made it to the Canary Islands – Lanzarote. First drink for 5 days, it hits home rather quickly. Again from Bob’s camera:

The next day; shaving offshore is a bit pointless...
