We spent the night in Peniche on a rolly pontoon. The pilot book is quite right that the local fishermen completely ignore the huge sign saying max 3 knots, so each entry and exit is accompanied by much grinding and knashing of fenders as well as expletives in a wide variety of languages.

We met a couple of other ARC boats, including a nice German couple (who later gave us vital info about the supermarket in Cascais). When we came back from looking at the town we had a tiny (22ft) French boat rafted outside us with the usual mass of people on board. They certainly are pretty adventurous, they were sailing North against the wind, not a comfortable experience in such a small boat.
